Relka Investments is a privately owned investment company. We invest our own permanent capital — there are no outside investors, no fund to return, and no deadline that forces us to sell.
That shapes everything. Every investment we make is important to us — there are no fillers in the portfolio, and nothing we own is too small to deserve our full attention. When we make an offer, it is because we intend to own the asset for a long time and make it better.
Our history
Relka's capital was earned over three decades of founding, building and backing businesses. Our principal co-founded and built a London private equity partnership, investing in and transforming operating companies through to successful sale; has chaired and served on the boards of businesses through periods of significant growth; and has been an early backer of emerging technology ventures.
The judgement that built the capital is the same judgement that now invests it. We know what it is to start something, run it through hard years, employ people, and hand it on well — which is exactly why we take such care when we sit on the other side of the table.
What we invest in
We back and buy steady, well-run businesses whose owners care what happens next — to the name over the door, to the staff, and to the customers.
We invest to hold and grow patiently, not to strip and sell on. Every business we touch should be stronger for our ownership.
We buy houses and flats to own and let for the long term — chain-free, in our own name, dealing directly with the decision-maker.
We maintain our properties properly, keep good tenants, and treat both sellers and tenants the way we would want to be treated.
We make minority investments in private equity and investment funds run by managers whose judgement and standards we trust.
We are a patient, low-maintenance investor: long-term commitments, no pressure for early exits, and the same values we apply to everything else.
How we work
We only invest where we are prepared to give our full attention. If it is in the portfolio, it is important to us — full stop.
Everything we own should improve while we hold it — businesses run well, properties maintained properly, partnerships honoured. That is the test we set ourselves.
We treat people fairly — sellers, staff, tenants and partners. We do not cut corners on the way people are treated to improve a return.
You deal directly with the decision-maker. We do our work before we make an offer, we say what we think, and if the answer is no we say so quickly and tell you why.
We keep our own affairs private, and we extend the same courtesy to everyone we deal with. Conversations with us stay confidential — before, during and after a transaction.
